Baby Your Skin All Winter Long
It's always a good idea to treat your skin well, but in the winter, it's especially important to give it a little TLC. Because humidity levels are dropping outside and that dry heat is coming on in your home, your skin is being sapped of moisture and might be feeling itchy and tight or looking drab as a result. While it's important to invest in a good skincare product for your face during this time of year, your whole body deserves to be babied! Here are some tips to keep your skin soft and hydrated.
Shorten that shower
Not only will shortening your shower save on your water bill, but it might also help your skin and hair! It might sound tempting to spend 20 minutes in a steaming hot shower during the chilly winter months, but hot water can be drying to your skin, and the longer you spend in there, the worse the dehydration. Instead, steam up your bathroom by running the hot water to warm up, and then hop in for 10 minutes, finishing with a cool rinse.
Watch where you wash
You don't always need to suds up from head to toe. For instance, unless you have been exercising vigorously, there's no real need to scrub your forearms with a dehydrating antibacterial body wash. When you do need to scrub all over, use a moisturising body skincare product.
Makeover your moisturising routine
This is the perfect time to get into a routine because your pores are still wide so the moisturising lotion's hydrating properties will be absorbed fully into the skin. You might also find you want to moisturise twice a day or double up on a certain area.
